Heeeyyyyyy. Howziz.
I'm interrupting our regularly scheduled procrastination and silence with another update, but of no particular import. The past several weeks in these parts have seen a trip to see my mom wherein we were snowed in for the majority of the time (Hello March! Hello Lion!) and returning to mid-80s temps here at home ( * pets lamb * ); a repeat show of Wicked, sadly sans Eden Espinosa this time; a fabulous Billy Joel show at the Pond; MORE CONSTRUCTION and the passing of one of the most lackluster birthdays in memory. Fun times.
But on the horizon like a beacon of hope and relief is a trip to Mexico in May. * counts days *
One of the more minor happenings here at Chez Drown was a conversion to the new fiber optic system that Verizon is rolling out in this area. Basically the new fiber lines would replace the antiquated copper lines of your existing phone, and accomodate a big 'ole fat digital pipe for TV and internet. As part of the lure package, Verizon offered a deal to package all of the big services - internet, tv, tivo and landline - and I predictably could not resist, especially as DirecTV has been itching for a fight with me for the past couple of years. Throw in a free LCD tv and I was there....almost. I freely admit that their new ad campaign, and specifically the tv spot with Michael Bay is TOTALLY what won me over:
I mean, COME ON. How can the indubitable director of Armageddon
and Pearl Harbor be wrong?
Regardless of questionable choices as spokesperson for FioS, I am so far quite pleased with everything and most especially the DVR - it is my new boyfriend, confidante and prom date for the forseeable future. I've finally jumped on the bandwagon, drunk the Kool-Aid and wonder how I ever lived without thee?
